Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Goblet of Fire is where things really start to heat up (quite literally), and also get significantly darker; a trend which continued all the way to the series’ conclusion.

We’re in the fourth year at Hogwarts with the formal introduction of a sporting event - the Tri-Wizard Cup - which discloses once again how weirdly old-fashioned the wizarding school is. Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) announces that Hogwarts is to play host to two other schools who are in competition for the three-way trophy, a terrifying game that can spell death for its combatants - and in which Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) finds himself a bewildered and unwilling participant.

The games offer plenty of adventure and fun, with an airborne dragon chase, underwater rescues and a journey through a scary maze - in all of which Harry's spectacles remain magically in place. Any excuse to revisit this series on the big screen - especially the earlier ones (up to, and including this installment) which had a more whimsey spirit - is always worthwhile. So grab your broom and buckle up. Let the games begin!
